Art in Public > Character Studies

Character Studies consists of 19 portraits of 70 members of the Westchester Library community (children, teens, and adults; librarians and patrons) depicting their favorite literary characters with imagery from the appropriate text(s). The portraits were silk-screened with sepia ink on to maple plywood panels. Along with the portraits, I created a repeating decorative motif for 38 additional panels, which flank each portrait. All of these pieces are installed on the ceiling and walls of the main room of the library, checker-boarded with plain plywood panels.
